She's Fresh...Exciting

One of my all time favorite ad campaigns, this Versace spread dates around '94-'95 and was torn out of a copy of Vogue.  I am still quite in love with it, I just can't get enough of all the attention paid to the details.  It looks as fresh today as it did back then.  And if you look closely at the third photo, you can almost see the faces of Kate Moss and Linda Evangelista in there (which I am guessing was no accident). Long live King Gianni.

I Love My Calendar Girl

Usually, it goes like this: sometime during the first week of January, I look to my left to see the date and notice that, hey...I need a new calendar!  And then, due to a mix of procrastination and forgetfulness, all of the sudden it's February and I'm desperately searching for one.  Oftentimes, I am pluck out of luck finding something that suits me (if I hadn't spotted the last of the Fender guitar calendars marked 1/2 off last year at Barnes & Nobles, I might have had to settle for Hannah Montana...*shudder*).  So how prepared do I feel this year now that I have one ready to go for 2010!

The Barbie 2010 Calendar: Fashion Model Collection features one of my all-time forever favorite things: fashion illustrations of Barbara Millicent Roberts .  Each month has a different "collectible" Barbie wonderfully rendered in water-color, pen, and pencil by the super talented Robert Best,  whom you might remember as a contestant on "Project Runway" Season 3 (glad to see Mattel took him back after he was auf'd!).  And considering I'm often tempted to buy some of these dolls only because the drawings on the boxes are so amazing, the calendar solves two issues at once: space & time.

Order one now at Amazon.

Not lost, but I did find

The following pieces of random cuteness were recently found on a flea market adventure.  Not sure why, but apparently the last Saturday of September is the unofficial Flea Market Day in the greater Philadelphia area because on every corner it seems there are tables and blankets set up with people trying to get rid of their goods.  Here are a few of my favorite findings.

Preppy canvas tote bags from the 70's are my weakness (I have about a dozen or so).  And since they can be picked up rather cheaply, I have a problem not buying them.  I mean, really, when something this adorable is only $1, how can you not?

Purple Studio 54-era shades from YSL, befitting your inner Grace Jones.  Can you say SICK?  $5.  Lenses a little scuffed, working on repairing them with Armor Etch.

Ultra sweet bone~white boots from the 80's.  Super slouchy, sexy, size 9. Not my size so lucky you...I just added them to the 28 Crash! store.

I loves me some 80's kitsch and if it can be worn around my neck, even better.  Smashing goldtone necklace with charm pendant.  Heart has hinged hoop (say that 10 times fast!) affixed with dangly unicorn & key charms.   My aunt was a club-hopping disco queen back in the day, this looks like something she would have owned.
